Derwent Honey Spring 2025

Here we at the beginning of April and the bee season has blasted into action, and what a start compared to 2024!

One minute leisurely preparation of kit and making of frames has turned into a mad dash to add space for the rapidly expanding brood nests. The mild temperatures and cloudless skies here in North Yorkshire is providing a huge opportunity for our colonies to gather pollen which is fuelling the increase in bees. If this weather holds we could be looking at an amazing year.

Over at the nuc yard, nucs are similarly large and many are getting ready to be hived up. Our nucs start heading off to their new homes from this weekend so hopefully their new beekeepers have their kit ready for a fast start.

Just incase, if you or your connections need a nuc, we have a few spares. Just give us a shout.
